I agree. There are those that choose pellets, and those that know how to actually smoke meat with real wood. The chicken looks fantastic though. food

And those of us who are good with stick burners cooking with them for 30 years and got tired of being a babysitter. Now all I have to do is look at my phone to see the internal temp of my meat and I am sure my smoker temp is right on. Do not mistake convenience for lack of skill.

I bet you drive a truck with a auto trans.....but there are actually those who can drive with a real manual trans. No offense, just pointing it out.

That sounds like a negative.

I get up at 4am, unlock my phone, turn on smoker. Take meat out of fridge, rub it down, go back to sleep. Wake up at 6am again, put meat on smoker, insert probes attached to smoker and go fishing. Fish all day, check temp of meat on phone, keep fishing and drinking beer. Get home at 2-3, clean fish, take a nap til 6pm. Wake up, check meat temp on phone, get sides ready. Pull meat around 7-8pm. Eat and pop another beer

If I’m smoking at night. Put meat in around 10pm. Sleep like a baby, wake up at 9am to check meat. Run errands, come back around 12pm and pull meat.

I fire my smoker up because I want to start a fire and enjoy the burn and BBQ. If it was just BBQ I wanted, I can pick that up at a restaurant.

Scheduled meat pulling, you really are on a boycott.

The title gave some of us the impression that the OP considered pellet smokers the only "real" smokers. So some of us gave him some heat for that. He posted his stickburner pics so no offense meant or taken. To each his own. BTW, I prefer auto trans, but have owned and driven all of them. Cheers.

Solid schedule. I was just saying TTID not drinking as many beers because he switched to a pellet smoker would be a negative.

The dead rooster looks very good regardless of equipment used, I would tear that up.

For the record, I use stick burners and Green Eggs for cooking, and my haul truck has a 5&4 two stick.
