it had too much shade in my high tunnel,so it never produced peppers.but its huge and healthy should i keep it or trash it and start over in spring.
the high tunnel will stay above 40 degrees this winter.

Not sure what a high tunnel is. But if you can get it more sun next year I would over winter it. Early March heavily prune it back. It will a more bushy producer. I cut my pepper plants back to the ground about 3 months ago. They are producing like crazy right now.

So it's completely covered ? That might be your problem . If wind or pollinators can't get to it you won't get any fruit .
40 degrees is pushing it for a habanero . You might want to add some heat (cables or lamps) if it gets too cold this winter . I grow my hotter peppers in pots so I can move them inside when necessary .

I've had habs survive snow/hard frost inside wallo'waters so it can be done . Good luck .

My experience with Habanero is that they take a long time to grow fruit ..... like 9 to 10 months.

Check it carefully, you may have a plant full of small green peppers that are easily overlooked.

Last time I grew them, it was gonna freeze, so I went out and stripped the plant of all peppers, and found that I had a heII of a lot of small green peppers. Still plenty hot, and good for Peppers Sauce.

Those small ones make good salsa

Peppers are the easiest thing to grow....overwintering feels like more work than its worth... chalk it up to experience learned and move on...

g&s if you consider this work. you may be doing it wrong. im going to see what happens planting a new hab. next to a 2yr old. i do this for fun when it becomes work i will quit

The real issue with peppers, is that if you plant them from seed .... the germination time can be as long as 45 days under good conditions. If started indoors, they may need a heating pad underneath to provide warm soil.
