I was the service manager at a shop for over 20 years and I can't understand why the cost is so high. I mean it was so easy to find competent mechanics and riggers then,I mean they were begging for work,I am sure it is still like that today. And just so you know,yes this is said in jest. I am betting you could find someone to do the work you need for less,if you want to take the chance.

Most of the shop rates I have seen recently are $125-150 and hour. It sounds like you had 4-5 hours of work done or more. I would look around for a smaller shop that has a great reputation and get them to do any work you need in the future.

The local reputable repair guy quoted me a price which was fair then he dropped the hammer the wait was 6 weeks and I had to leave my boat, which was serviceable ,with him no choice. A guy here in the TFF got me in and out over night. It pays to look around. I also had an install done over night on an ultrex.
