She sure did. That's a horse for sure!

This is my Grandad fishing with the 33 (about 1970) - fishing guide in the 1920's - he could haul a big one out of a highway ditch it seemed. Some just have the knack for it that way. Anyway, look close and the fish is as big as the beagle.

That particular fish was caught in Lake Minneola, Clermont, just off the RR bridge on the Minneola side (a big fish area since that is a cut connecting a chain of lakes and the flow is towards Minneola). Anyway, he gets this fish on and it's jumping like crazy (he's in an 8 foot boat with the dog) when a pickup truck pulls up on the bridge and Milton Smith got out (his prime competitor for big fish). The fish for some reason goes under and stays under during this period. Granddad hollers to Milton: "Milton - I've got a huge fish on!" Milton looks around - no fish jumping, no swirls, no dog barking excitedly - and says "you're always pulling my leg Press, you don't have any big fish on!" - gets in his truck and rides off. Got it in after that, and many more from that spot.

I realize why they don't - the ones out there have lasted far longer than they probably ever thought they would.

Agreed - the 33 was the initial step into a quality reel. And as for the meal - absolutely. Before tournaments and bass monetization, the bigger the fish the more you could feed and he fed a lot all through the Great Depression. He guided on Lake Apopka (FL) from 1920's-WWII.

Edit: forgot to say as far as the video of that fish ( Connie & Bass ) - Connie has developed the knack for hooking them and become a big bass monster!
