I don’t know what it is but I’ve tried fishing in so many different different locations and I can’t seem to catch anything. I don’t have access to a boat so I can’t just clamber on one and go to the middle of a lake. It’s honestly been a year and a half since I’ve caught other than sunfish. I’m based in Fort Worth so does anyone have a specific location that’s a honey hole for fishing I don’t care if it’s a pond, lake, creek, river, or anything and if so what rig, lures, live baits did you use. Any help for bank fishing is appreciated!

The middle of the lake is overrated

Literally anything. Catfish, Bass of any kind, crappie, or trout. Any gamefish that isn’t a sunfish.

I think a species-specific technique would work best. Try some of these:

Catfish - sliding sinker rig (main line with egg sinker > swivel > leader and hook); for bait, try nightcrawlers, live or chunked sunfish, hotdogs. For hotdogs and sunfish chunks, don't be afraid to use larger hooks (like 6/0 or 7/0 circles) so that you get a good gap between hook point and shank.

Bass - try a variety of different methods/lures; jerkbaits, crankbaits (shallow divers if fishing a pond), dropshot, ned rig, etc.

Crappie - find wood structure with a crappie jig under a slip-float; could also use live minnows under a slip-float.

Trout - find a pond in your area that is stocked with trout (easy to find via the TPWD website); use same sliding sinker rig as catfish except downsized (smaller hook like a #8 or #10); for bait, use Powerbait.

I don't live near FW so can't comment on any specific fisheries. Best recommendation is download FishBrain app to see what folks are catching near you, will give you an idea of what fish you can catch in each body of water.

Lake Arlington has a good population of channel catfish. Bowman Springs Park offers easy parking and bank access along the levee on the south side of the park. In the spring crappie are to be had there too

Your issue is probably location, even location in a certain body of water. Even in a pond you can fish the wrong areas and not get a bite...

Chuck around a soft plastic enough and you'll get bit. My favorite pond lure I learned this year is a gill colored chatterbait, and take a beaver plastic with no moving appendages, do NOT separate the claws, and put it on sideways so that the claws look like a tail. Imitates a sunfish absolutely perfectly, caught 3 pound bass all year fishing behind people with it.

I've had this problem as well, tried so many locations without much action. Will fishing the piers at Lake Arlington produce some catfish you think?

Aquaman couldn't get catfish to go to those piers

Solid advise right here!! I have explored so many spots on this map that led me to some good fishing holes.
