That place is ridiculous. Glad the jet ski was there to save her. That girl has one heck of a grip, she never dropped her cell phone and kept it above water most of the time.

Been out with a guide leaving Port O'conner when it looked worse than that. At least from my perspective it looked worse. The guide navigated through it like was nothing.

The ones that do best there get really close to the rocks; no thanks.
There's a huge hump sand bar in the middle that churns everything and creates wavepool effect, but if you stay close to the rocks, you avoid the worst of it. Again, no thanks, I'll launch somewhere else.

The second that stupid b%%%% tried to hand me her PHONE FIRST I'd have driven off and left! I wouldn't risk MY life if your dumba$$ was more worried about a PHONE than your OWN life...

One of my most terrifying kayak outings was out of Haulover Inlet. I knew it was going to be windy but a little wind never stopped me. Launched about a mile from Haulover Inlet before daylight at 24 hour marina on Intracoastal Waterway, targeting sailfish, and trying out a heavy duty rod and reel I'd picked up at pawn shop. Spooled it up with 50 lb mono, on stiff rod with 4/0 Penn reel. No turning back as the tide would be at the start of outgoing and would shoot me out inlet and I could come back after the tide started back in 6 hours later. Paddled in darkness and when I made the turn into the inlet, the wind hit me in the face hard. Sun was coming up, current was pushing me out, could see the waves getting bigger and bigger as I got to the start of the jetty where the waves were unbelievable. Took one picture at the start... it does no justice to how big the waves got further out or how terrified I was. I never used a flag so no one could even see me when I was in a trough. I put camera away quick as it wasn't waterproof and I knew I was in for some rough paddling. I swear it was at least 6 feet from crest of wave to trough from where I was when I took pic.. it got much worse. This is the opposite and much worse side of the jetty than all the videos you see of Haulover. I thought it would be less boat traffic and safer for me. No one left the inlet that morning before me on either side.. they must have known. You can see one vessel on the left.. its a ship. My day got worse... I tried to come back in after only a three hours.. almost dumped kayak when my reel's drag stuck as I was pulling in an amberjack. Could barely paddle into inlet with tide still going out. Standing waves and only making inches of progress with each paddle stroke... took me forever to paddle a couple hundred yards to protected water.. never again.
