Turn 69 today...yea! Got to spend a very Happy Birthday with Doc at Fayette. We fished from daybreak until 6:00 pm. Had planned on leaving at 5 pm but the bite at that point was on fire, so we stayed til 6 pm. We ended up with 343 fish (2 Tilapia/4-5 bass & the rest sunfish) Heavy red ear bite today. Water temp was 86-89 degrees & level was full pool. We tried different baits today including some small crankbaits. The crankbaits were a bit of a let down...only got a few, but the hot ticket today was the Gulp Alive brown Crickets. Between 4:30 & 6 pm it was non stop action with these crickets. Also caught a lot of fish on the Gulp minnows. The countdown is on...only 3 or 4 weeks until the Sunfish disappear until next spring on this lake...

Side Note: What color were you using on the small crank baits. I usually have good results using the Chartreuse/Gray or Chartreuse/Black. Get great results using the Gulp Alive Leaches.

Leaches work good on the Rios as well!

Happy Birthday for sure and Im glad you guys had a good day. Im still waiting for my starting/electronics battery to come in so Im boatless. Was heading to Sam Rayburn yesterday to fish with a friend who lives up there. He called me when I was about 45 minutes away from where we were going to meet and said he was having engine problems. So that 3 day fishing trip was a bust as well. Hope to get after them next week.

Ha Ha...It was actually my birthday...Doc is a lot younger than me.

Curtis..The tiny crankbaits we were using were chartreuse mostly ...one had a purple top & I believe the one Doc was using had a white back.

Tom...Can't you get a cranking battery at your local marine dealer ? Why wait ?

Chuck/Curtis...may have to try out those leaches next year.

I ordered an AGM dual purpose battery. I wanted the Northstar and nobody stocks them because of price. Batteries and Bulbs sales them but they get their batteries on Monday and I ordered it last Tuesday. I was not worried about it because I was suppose to be fishing Rayburn and Toledo Bend 3 days this week. My buddies boat issues changed that.

The big perch have all pretty much hit the road to wherever they hide out in fall and winter at Fayette.
But it was fun to play ball with the farm team too. Just a ravenous bite in the afternoon !
Caught some gorgeous Tiger Striped red ear.
