1st place pro only got about$50,000 "Only" got $50,000. For fishing. Call me old school (at 32), but that is a pretty decent 4 days of work. I would say winning $50k doing a hobby is pretty good. Considering they pay an 1800 entry fee, have at a minimum 3 nights of lodging if they don't practice it ain't that good! The guys from 21-40 aren't doing much other than breaking even.

I think he was referring to the winner.

How many times did the winner lose before he won the $50k? That’s the question.
It's only a good cast if you catch a fish... Personal Best: 11.62 lbs

If you haven't figured out by now that this game isn't a money making venture when it comes to the actual tournament payouts vs expenses, then you might need to go back to 5th grade math.
That doesn't stop people from competing, at any level.

Good point shotgun. I figure you tourney fishermen are the ones stuck on 5th grade math though.....

I know this is the internet where everyone is making 200-250k or more a year....but normal folks in the real world are making about 50k a year. So yeah, 50k for a weekend pretty good.

No worries, and I agree, after expenses their net was way less.

They also received money from the host city. Who knows what that amount was.
