The most recent trip last week we took home a catfish and 10 white bass. We hook an additional 21 white bass and a crappie but they went back. You just never know! The white bass preferred 3-5 foot diving rattle-trap type crankbaits with silver, gold and yellow color combos. Some white bass and the catfish took a white spinnerbait with one spoon and dark hair over the hook. This was retrieved around 2 feet below the surface. All the white bass were in the downwind coves against the far banks where there was a little structure and baitfish were concentrated due to the wind and water movement. The catfish and crappie came out of tree and grass structure in the shade where the water was calm due to some natural protection from the wind. The crappie took a white and yellow jig-head with white feather covering hook. We saw one other boat on the lake from 630AM until 1230PM when we quit. Some bank fishermen at the State Park reported a few short crappies casting out from the short boat-ramp and a small catfish nearer the pier. I self impose a 12-inch minimum on white bass we keep.

I agree in the 12” size when possible. 10 just doesn’t have much meat on them.
