9/23/2020: Went on a scouting run from 1 to 4:30 PM. I checked 14 structures and found fish on 6 of them: Drew's Humps, the A-Frame, Key Ranch Drop-off, Iron Wall Point, Spilllway Hump (north finger) and Game Warden Hump. All these structures are shallow (12 to 16); none of the deeper structures I checked had significant concentrations of fish. I stopped to fish a couple of structures and caught 37 whites and 3 hybrids. Caught them on #2 and #4 Mepps with #2 catching them faster - meaning where I could catch them on both, they took #2 on the first one or two drags whereas it typically took 4 or 5 drags to catch them on 4's. To me this says the 2 matched the hatch better. I left both places where I caught fish still catching fish.

9/25/2020: After a morning of golf with friends Ed and Paul, Ed and I went fishing. Left dock about 3:30 PM. We first found fish at Key Ranch Drop-off but they were under another boat, so we kept on looking. Turns out it was TFFer Bookout, who came by to id himself and say hello after we found and were catching fish on the Old Pond Dam. After that slowed, we went north to Doll House Point and found a good bunch in 12 to 17 fow. Between the 2 spots we caught 62 white bass with many going 15 to 16 inches. We left there and went to Game Warden Hump, where I had caught 3 hybrids 2 days before - but nada there this day - and no whites either. So, we headed back south toward the house and checked a couple of spots on the way - Slide Hump and Iron Wall Hump. Both of these are deep humps 22 to 27 fow, and although we could see fish, they were reluctant to bite. We did catch 3 more sandies and an 18 inch hybrid. But, the coup de grace was the estimated 40 lb blue cat that Ed caught at Slide Hump. He thought he was hung up and as I moved the boat over to it to jiggle it free, it started moving. It took Ed a good 10 minutes to get it in. We measured it and it was 36 inches long. It took a #4 silver Mepps. BTW, Ed also caught a 1st for me after 53 years of fishing lakes - a full sized aluminum-handled fish landing net - about 5 feet long with net still in good shape. If it hadn't been so nasty with scum, I would have kept it. Here is the pic of Ed's blue:

Dennis, it was good to see you out there! I had a day off work and the kids were in school so I decided to treat myself to a day of fishing. Started up north and worked my way down the lake. Before noon I caught fish at LeRoy’s hump and Don’s point. Tried several other spots and only caught a few here and there. Afternoon I caught quite a few at key ranch drop off. Then ran into Dennis and Ed and was able to observe the Mepps master first hand. He caught at least 10 to my 1, but I was watching and learning! I headed back north and caught fish at sunken island and another unnamed hump. Most fish I caught were in 12-18 FOW, with the exception of key ranch drop off where there were about 20-25 FOW. I used Mepps #4, #2, and the new MAL. I would throw all 3 at each spot and see what the wanted. I probably caught about the same number of fish on all 3 throughout the day. The MAL seemed to produce bigger fish. Total count was 121 whites (several in the 15 inch range), 3 small cats, and 2 legal hybrids. Beautiful day on the lake!! [Linked Image]

Book, glad to see you fish Leroy's Hump and Don's Point. They are good spots, but you are the 1st person other than me who has reported fishing these spots. These spots and Sunken Island are the best spots in that area. Another good spot up there is the point on the 1st island as you go west on the Gun Barrel - Seven Points Bridge. It is on the north side of the bridge and not far at all from the launches on the bridge and at Gun Barrel end of bridge.

It has been many years since I fished CC but I’m thinking I need to try it as I love to catch sand bass and hybrids. We always put in at Star Harbor (I think) and as we were in a flat bottom with a 25 hp on it, never went really far. I’ve been following Dennis’ reports, looked at his links, map and all, and I have a question or two. If you don’t know the lake do you need to be concerned about where you run ? Are there marked boat lanes ? I appreciate any help.

There are no stumps to worry about in the main part of the lake from the Gun Barrel - Seven Points Bridge to the dam. That covers all the spots on my map. There is one exception I can think of. If you follow the Caney Creek fork of the lake as you go west of the bridge on its north shoreline, after you pass the prominant point on that shoreline, from there to the end of the Caney Creek shoreline there are some stumps near the bank. Stay at least 100 yards away from that part of the shore. The stumps are not visible when the lake is full as it is now. Also, when the lake gets down to 4 ft low or lower, there are a few shallow areas to watch. Saint Annes Point is one. Another is just SE of Dam Drop-off. Another is the point on the west side of the lake west southwest of Long Ridge West. Those are the only ones I know of anywhere near the spots on my map.

Wednesday 9/30/2020: Hosted Lenahorse Larry and etu Ed here at Cedar Creek Lake today. We left dock at 8:50 AM and stopped fishing at 2:30 PM. In between we caught 110 fish: 103 white bass mostly 13 to 16 inches and 7 hybrids all over 20 inches. We started at Key Ranch Drop-off, and SnagginSteve and Fastguy were already there catching fish. We caught a dozen or so there in 15 fow then went to Doll-house Point. Saw a good concentration there in 13 to 18 fow and caught another couple of dozen - all big white bass. Next stop was Spillway Point but only managed a couple of fish there. Then to Game Warden Hump and found a bunch. We caught 4 hybrids there plus a lot of whites in 14 to 17 fow. Last stop was Spillway Hump and found bunches of fish there. We caught the last 3 hybrids there and a lot of big whites in 15 to 18 fow.

Larry caught most of his on #4 Mepps, Ed caught them on #2, #4 and tailspinners, and I caught 40% on Mepps #4 and the rest on #2. The fish especially at Spillway Hump were very finnicky. Much of the time we had fish on both sides of the sidescan, but we had many casts through them without a fish. Jump starting the bait seemed to work best for me. With the #2 jump starting then reeling slowly about 4 turns worked best.

It was a great day to be out on the lake with good friends! Here are some pics. Ed, please add yours.

Thank you Sir ! I appreciate the knowledge you impart on this forum and will be using your methods for the sandies before too long I hope.

Will post pics more of them when I ever get my laptop back the cover hinge broke off somehow shop said it was a common thing with HP large screens.
This was a great trip I enjoyed alot and wish to repeat soon as possible, I fished a Mepps more this day that I ever had, 2's are a hateful thing for me but they work well. I should be at Texoma today but staying with my dog that is not feeling well. Hopefully next week I will be back north.
