Planned to fish til around 4 pm, but mother nature had other plans. Got to the lake at daybreak & only had a few showers in the morning...but at 12 noon the big one was coming in with lightening, so decided to head home. The boat got a good washing out. Pretty good morning, but as has been the case the last few weeks, the morning bite is mostly smallish fish. End up with maybe 75, with only 8-10 being what I call "picture fish". Water temp 88-90 and a little over full pool. Also got a handful of Rios & bass but nothing big. All caught on Gulp Alive minnows & released to fight another day... [Linked Image]

Smart move getting on off the lake with that storm that came through. It looked nasty on the radar. Don't worry about the numbers you caught. I plan on working them over for you tomorrow. fish

Thanks guys & gals...

Laker...The late fall/winter bite on Fayette totally disappears for sunfish...I switch over to bass come late October. Don't know where they go, but will continue the hunt when not chasing bass.

Chuck...At some point in time we will hook up.

Tom...please leave a few for us...

For the pictures this trip I just set up the Go Pro to "Time Lapse" where it takes a picture every 5 seconds. I did it for 1 hour which gave me 600 to 700 photos. I ended up saving maybe 10, but you can get some unique action shots like this that you just can't get with a selfie stik or phone camera...

Thanks Vogey! You would think the deep water Bluegill bite would be "On Fire" in that lake! hmmm

Well I went Thursday and there was a big difference in temperature when I got there from Katy. It was really nice for a change and quite cool. Broke out the hooded sweat shirt and sweat pants. Also ended up putting on my rain jacket. Started out at firs light on Hog Point and caught several really nice bass on topwater. Ran into Rick Denton who guides on the lake and had a very informative conversation with him about how he finds summertime bass. Even though I know the lake fairly well I think Im going to hire him for one of his instructional classes. Anyway when the bass bite died I broke out the bluegill rods. The wind was really blowing so the spot lock had to work pretty hard. Got onto the fish and was catching them pretty good. Went to reposition the boat and the engine battery would not start the engine. I checked the connections and everything was tight, so I figured the battery was definitely bad. With only a few boats on the water, I did not want to chance running the trolling motor too long and not have enough reserve in the TM batteries to start the engine. I fished for about another hour and then used the jump switch to fire up the main motor and headed back to the ramp. Checked the battery and figured out that i bought it in 2016. I definitely got my use out of it. Ordered a new starting battery today so the boat is out of commission until late next week. Engine battery/trailer brakes/Power Pole problems has put a damper on my fishing lately. Nothing that cant be corrected.
