I adjust depending on the lake. I don't go to Falcon to catch 15 inch fish, but if I'm fishing Belton and catch 30 fish in an afternoon that are all 14 - 15 inchers, I've had a pretty good day.

I just go fishing and see what happens. I caught 5 on PK yesterday in 2.5 hours and was happy. Biggest only about 2 lbs.

If I am going specifically for big fish, it's going to be for blue cats or a trip to the coast.

I used to be a river fisherman, mostly big eating sized perch and eating sized catfish, with a little bass fishing thrown in. I morphed into a lake fisherman with bass my main target. I again morphed into a catch and release bass fisherman with an eye for bigger fish. Then, due to time constraints, I fished less and less, then finally sold both boats. After a 15 year hiatus I just recently bought a Ranger RT 188 and began fishing again for catfish and crappie. Iā€™m almost back to where I started and all I can say is I like it ALL !

I've had a very few 100+ fish days and they are awesome. But there is a rush with a really big fish that cannot felt with numbers alone.

Think back to the day you caught the most fish you've ever caught... you will smile and say that was a fun day. Now think back to the single biggest fish you've ever caught... my guess is you can recite in detail everything about that catch. How was the weather? How deep was she? What lure were you using? How tight was your drag set? The numbers may make for the best days. But the bigguns are the ones you will reminisce about for years to come.

I usually try to do both during the trip. I'll fish places that habitually hold numbers, and also spend some time on the places that should (notice I said SHOULD) hold a few big fish.

I do both. I have spent the last decade chasing fishing record goals, so I will often target a specific species of a specific size. However, if I encounter fish actively feeding, I will have fun landing those.

I catch the small ones and use them to bait in the bigguns bolt grin

This is awesome, thank you guys for all chiming in. I agree both are fun, but that one big bite can change your life. If anyone ever has a spot on their boat open, I am your girl! I will throw in on gas and food! Let's hunt the big ones!!!

I like to catch any fish. I have never caught a double digit fish but I have caught a bunch of fish. There have been 2 dd fish caught out of the back of my boat and that is a little upsetting. I enjoy catching numbers but I would like to catch a dd fish before I hang up the rod.

It depends really. I enjoy catching numbers of good size fish. If I caught 1 really big fish all day, I feel like I would not be content. I have a saying, I want to catch as many nice fish in a day that I can.

If I went to Belton and caught 30 fish that would be a good year for me! LOL!
