I caught some very dark colored ones on cypress last week on the dam.

I caught one like that once, but the black was mostly on its back and head. It wasn’t as dark as yours. I can’t remember where I caught it now.

Bass change colors to match their environment. Generally bass are dark in clear water and white or washed out in really dirty/turbid water. So many folks equate dark colored bass as "healthy" and very light bass as "unhearlthy". This is not true.
However, in your case the top bass in a melanistic bass, meaning it has a genetic issue causing to to be black. Similar to albino animals in the wild.

I use to use photobucket but they want money now and I don't pic's that often. I have really never looked at how to post a pic. That is why i ask it is much eaiser that an old fart trying to figure it out.

This was from Whitney I caught one like that pre fishing Hubbard Creek, caught her two days later in the tourney, same fish, same spot, 7 LBer.

This was from Whitney I caught one like that pre fishing Hubbard Creek, caught her two days later in the tourney, same fish, same spot, 7 LBer. That funny because she weighed a little over 7 lbs. My son caught it at Lonestar Jr. Bassmater tournament. He caught it on a topwater.
