Staying in Sea Isle Oct. 9-11. and hoping to book a morning trip for me and my wife, if it’s not too late. Would appreciate any suggestions. Would it be worth surf fishing around Sea Isle? I’m still green to saltwater.

I've fished with him a few times. He's a local, and has been fishing West Bay most of his life.

I grew up down the road from Sea Isle in Bay Harbor (behind the Rusty Hook, actually). Check this thread (this post, and above: https://texasfishingforum.com/forum...1/re-hows-galveston-fishing#Post13691161) for a list of a few places I fish/catch bait in the area.

If you fished for bass, fishing for trout and redfish is pretty similar...in fact, you can use some of the same lures (it's great to watch people's reactions when you're cleaning a stringer full of slot reds and your rod has a spinner bait on it). Let me know if you have any specific questions, but there are a few people in the forum who seem to be pretty familiar with the west end/west bay.

You also might check out youtube. There are several people who fish that area (MDLR Fishing is one, he does a lot of kayaking).

We used to stay in Sea Isle for our family summer trips to the island. Sea Isle has a fishing pier that extends pretty far out into West Bay with gated access, so make sure you have use of the key. The pier can be productive at night under the lights for trout when the tide is moving in or out. I have also caught some nice flounder in the middle of the day on that pier just bouncing a jig from one end to the other and back.

Actually this tactic, walking up and down piers and bulkheads jigging a soft plastic or a live mullet/mud minnow on a jig head, is pretty good for catching flounder, especially when you'll be in town.
