Water temps were 79 at 9:30 this morning. The last couple of trips have seen a lot of action, but short fish were 2:1 vs keepers. Today we had less total bites, but bigger fish- keepers were at 4:1 vs shorts. 2 fish over 14”, 1 over 13”- this was by far my best “big fish” day this year. Wish we could have boated the 3 pigs that came off at the boat. Mistakes were made...
I’ve switched my jig sizes up quite a bit. Windy days, I’ve been on a 1/8~1/4oz pink or chartreuse. Today was glass and I downsized to a 1/16th oz jig with a large minnow. Without the wind helping to move the bait, this seemed to really help as the larger minnow could swim more freely on the lighter jig. Last week the fish seemed to be out on the branches. Today they were sucked in tight. All fish were caught in 20~25’ of water.
Good uns. I went to Fork yesterday. I think it has gotten worse. Could not make them bite. Hoping these cooler temps this week will help out. Plenty of them down there but all they do is follow and peck.
