What a difference a week makes. I didn't get on the lake until mid afternoon so that was my first mistake. The big difference yesterday was that every tree had a few fish on it but no big fish were having any of it. We would get a couple of bites out of each tree mostly 10-11 inch fish and a few smalls. We fished trees from 30 FOW to 13 FOW but it was the same story another factor was every tree had huge balls of bait fish with very small fry on the surface. You could watch fish attack bait balls on the Livescope in most every tree which the boys got a kick out of. I don't know if this had to do with the passing of the full moon or some other variable but it was for the most part a humbling experience. The only place I didn't see large balls of bait fish was on the bridge but we got there so late we didn't get to fish long.
Best part of the day was got to spend the afternoon with the grandsons and listen to the world according to a couple of preteens. They had a blast and they love to watch how the Bubba blade makes late night fish cleaning a breeze. The great thing about getting your butt handed to you is the knowledge that someone out there whacked them and stacked them in the Livewell yesterday. Be safe out there this weekend. Now to rig all my poles that were left with no tackle. All you grandfathers will understand that one.
Growing old is inevitable, growing up is optional!

Sound like to me you got out there at the right time. Full moon typically makes the bite better in the afternoon. Did you have minnows? They go a long ways on that lake this time of year. Also with the extra cloud cover, I would have checked some brush also.

Bait balls have been like that for weeks now... many under water stuff looks like there is an umbrella over the tree... Thursday afternoon bite was great with plenty of keepers an some good fish... Today ... dead calm, fish somewhat scattered... still a good mess of fish but definitely a different bite... Good fishin’
