Does anyone on here have this? I think I have just got my first episode this past week. Feet feel like there walking on coals, ankles swollen, been gaining wait rapidly. Called the va yesterday and can’t get in till dec 22. Been taking anti inflammatory pills, pain pills, been drinking tons of water, feet elevated most of the time. Anybody got anything else that helps this chit. I think I’m going to take a trip to the ER today. Getting old sux

I was diagnosed with it several decades ago. I have taken allopurinol 300mg (one tablet a day) for years and it is under control. No attacks for probably 30+ years.

A lot of people swear eating cherries or drinking cherry juice works. I tried it and it didn’t do a thing for me, but you might try it.

Standard Process Arginex taken in high dose like 6-8 pills twice a day. When I feel a bout coming on I start and it really lessens the pain.

Never worked for me either.I was plagued with it for years, from knees to toes. What works for one person may not work for the next,i have learned that. Ice the swollen areas,it will take the swelling down.I tried every preventative on the market, even some they have pulled now days.Just go see a doctor. A steroid packet is the only that make it go away on me,boosted by a steroid shot. Its a pain you will never forget.

I got knee injections a few years ago because my knees are bone to bone...knock on wood,i haven't had a gout flair up since.

Uric Acid builds up into tiny crystals which deposit in small joints. The long term goal is to reduce levels of the offending metabolite. The offending dietary substance is purines from food sources with the big offender being any kind of animal flesh. Take a pill or eat a lot less purines. Let’s say about 8 Oz day.

I don’t want to be accused of being a doctor so take it for what is worth, go to a urologist, get a 24 hour urine study, and then have them tell you.

If it didn’t start in your big toe, it may not be gout. indomethacin is the drug that works for me. It’s a anti inflammatory that will chew on your stomach if your not careful. It will also work for other joint issues if you don’t actually have gout. No way I would wait till December to get out looked at. Find a rheumatologist that will see you ASAP. They will probably prescribe allopurinol as a maintenance drug as well.

It hit me 6-8 weeks back. I’ve been working from home semi locked down like most. Gained a bunch of weight, drank beer like they were going to quit making it. It hit me bad in my right foot.

Dr gave me steroids and two other meds. It went a way in three weeks or so. One Med I’m supposed to take every day but it makes me feel bad, dang near sick feeling but it helps.

Then started hitting the beer weekend of hurricane Laura, takes a lot beer to get through a hurricane. Gout came right back. It’s better this weekend.

Stay off alcohol, sugar, red meat etc. and drink lots of water and it should go away.

The other factor, lose weight, I need to loose 30 pounds. Being over weight causes many issues.

Thanks, Billy
