Have a trip planned for Ray Roberts this Friday morning with a couple of buddies that don't get to fish very often so I am very hesitant to postpone it. I never seem to have luck with drastic weather changes and I think this week qualifies with the rain and cooler weather. Do you think this weather change will give the sandies lockjaw? How do you think this weather will affect the pattern? I had planned on just working the humps with slabs as usual in anywhere from 14 to 30 foot of water.

Should get them going I would think. They may be a different depths or areas than you have been finding them but they will be biting good somewhere.

100 Percent agree. The bite should be on. Next week should be even better.

Hard to say, I did better yesterday on Grapevine than any other day of the year.. Non stop.. But cool fronts can really put a sting in the bite. If it is bird blue skies, I just don't know..
I am a superstitious person, so me and my son always start out a trip with "We aren't going to catch anything..". If we think we are going to kill them it backfires. Never hurts to try, and never postpone a fishing trip.. It's better than sitting at home any day, hopefully you have some good input on the lake.

Same here. Went out to Texoma and had a productive day, one of best days so far. Not very big ones, but not stop action.

Got 20 sandies from the bank yesterday.. wind is key where I bank. Long point with a flat on one side and deeper water on the other is game on. Pressure yesterday was 29.94. Clay bottom, Southwest wind and small jig and slab was $. Fish at this location are 1 month early

Thanks for the input! We will be backing down the ramp tomorrow hopefully by 6:45 in the morning unless its just really coming down in buckets, which it shouldn't.

I'm going to throw out a little unconventional nugget for you guys on these early season cool fronts. There will be a very shallow bite on a few select windy points on just about every Texas lake. It wont be every point on the lake, but they will be STACKED on a few, and I mean SHALLOW. Big whites

Yep, that was the pattern when I use to fish Lavon a lot. First couple of fronts in September and shallow bite off island was on. I caught biggest fish of the year that way. 2 jigs on a popping cork right on the bank.

It was tough sledding for me at ray bob yesterday. We each put a few in the boat but they made us work hard. Never found them really schooled up big. We would find a bite then it was gone in 5 to 10 minutes. Just kept moving all day. Seems like when we did find them it was in 30 to 35 foot of water.

It was tough as chit on tawakoni, this weekend. I didn't see anyone catching lots of boats on main lake points and humps but nothing.
Marked them in 23-30ft but they wouldn't take the bait.

Fished Raybob yesterday had a good start catching some nice ones early several 14” one 15” and a monster 16” birds left and so did the bite checked a few other spots and finished on a mid lake hump with a total of 34 light winds no crowd got off the water before it got to hot great day on Raybob

Look shallow. But don't fish straight up and down. Locate the fish shallow and then get to one side of them ( 30 feet ) and throw to them. throw a slab, Tail spinner or mepps at them and work it back to the boat. We found that yesterday this would create a reaction strike. If you want to beat the banks like bass fishermen throw a sassy shad up to the bank and reel back. Most of the fish we caught were in 10 to 15 feet .
