Installed an Ultrex 52 inch shaft in December of last year. I’m having trouble with the unit staying at the depth set. During the day it works it’s way back to full length in the water. I tighten it as tight as I can. Anyone else having this issue? If so, is there a solution?
Thanks

All of them will work there way down if you do any pushing on the head of the TM.; during the process of the day. I am thinking you got some kind of lubricant on the shaft. Clean the shaft with Alcohol to cut any oils that may exist on the shaft and sleeve. The Sleeve with the knob is all that holds it in place. Clean it as well as possible.

Next up the Sleeve can be replaced. It could be defective.

I would try to find some of that thin rubber that's kinda like electrical tape and wrap around the shaft between the sleeve and shaft. That should hold it and keep it from slipping...

Had the same issue with mine. Solution is to DIY a rectangular washer placed under the tension screw. If you look close you will see that the tension knob only applies pressure over a small area of the sleeve and the sleeve ears deform until they touch each other. I made a 1/8” plate that covers the complete ear of the tension sleeve and use it like a washer under the tension knob. Now the pressure from the tension screw is applied across the entire sleeve ear. Problem solved....

I took the washer out of the clamp and it works like it's supposed to now. Someone on BBC suggested that.

I never had an issue unless I was letting the motor slam down over and over. Some guys have bought a second clamp and just installed it on top of the other. Cleaning it like Donald said should help. I've used tape on other motors but I wouldnt suggest it. It usually still ends up moving and gets gooey stuff all over the shaft and you wont be able to raise and lower it like you would like to
