I have a 2008 225 HPDI. Here's my take after 1.5 years of owning this boat/motor (It is on a 1992 Champion 201)

Pros: Starts instantly, cruises at 50 + MPH, tops out at 65+ with a 25P prop, comes out of the hole very well if propped correctly even with this heavy boat, no mechanical problems except a leak in the trim seals which I replaced in about 2 hours.

Cons: Its heavy, fuel system maintenance is imperative if you want it to stay together, fuel system maintenance is rather complicated (there are 12 fuel filters, 2 Low pressure fuel pumps and two high pressure fuel pumps on this motor) and you have to do it yourself or it gets expensive in a hurry.

Overall, it has been a good motor so far.

they are good fuel efficient motor if you are not prepared to spend four to six hundred on fuel system once a year probly need to pass on it most folks run them til it doesnt run right by then the motor is hurt.
