A 8, a 10, a 17, a 18, and a 22. Problem is we are having too much fun catching skip jack. Hard to leave when you are catching fish on almost every cast. But we did and this was the result. The water has started to cool down from 86 degrees last Saturday down to 83. Not much, but it is the beginning of the fall bite. All the ones we caught are big bellied blues. They are putting the weight back on after the July/August spawn. ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2020/08/full-3327-65231-resized_20200829_143828_3768.jpeg) ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2020/08/full-3327-65233-img_2249.jpeg)

We almost didn't go. The wind forecast showed 10-15 from the NW. That means it gets funneled down hard when it hits the Tn River Valley going upstream from Huntsville. But I told my boat partner there is this guy that fishes Lake Lewisville and loves to catch the big girls in the rollers. We found a few places in the current out of the wind for the morning bite. It later died down to where we could go fish other places.

When I moved to Huntsville, I brought The Tugboat with me. A 20' Wellcraft CC. I sold it last year as it's just not the style of boat one needs to fish the river. Number one problem was I couldn't put a trolling motor on it. It was either drift with the current or toss an anchor. Anchor's are expensive when you lose them as often as I did. The new-to-me boat was a 2004 Lund with a 2016 Yamaha 150 attached to the stern. I replaced the tm with an Ultrex and that was the game changer. We now head to the dam and spot lock where the skip jack are schooling. Plus with 24v, we use it 80% of the time to hold the boat instead of anchoring. Lastly, I ordered two Never Lost anchors. I have yet to lose one to the anchor eating demons that lurk in the river.

Have you had a chance to fish right up next to where they are generating power Nut? When the conditions are right and they are generating power, you can throw some big live baits right up into those boxes and catch some serious Toads. Find a nook or crevice to throw at and you’ll catch some big fish I guarantee it! Big Flatheads will lay in those nooks and wait for bait fish to hit em in the nose.
