Good to know if this happens with my 92 xr6....mine beeped when the water pump stopped pumping and am currently trying to fix...I replaced the top part of the pump and gaskets but it is still not pumping so I'm getting into the bottom part tomorrow...I probably need to check the oil screen and float on mine for maintenance...

Easy check is to pull that check valve fitting below the starter. Takes about 5 minutes to get it out.
