Coming up on 1.5 years into retirement. I have found that all those co-worker "friends" diminish exponentially over time. They move on and your shoes are filled. That is just life. My job was intense mentally, and corporate policies a real drain. Thought I would miss the engineering challenges, but I haven't thought much about it. Instead, I have several hobbies to take up that energy. So overall, I loved retirement better than working. Up until China gave us this plague. That has me bitter. No family get togethers, no birthday parties, the masky shizzle, I hate it. China destroyed my enjoyment of retirement.

I miss my buds from when I was in the Border Patrol and/or Customs Office of Investigations. Lots of great times catching "bad guys". The last day of that though, was 20 years ago August 3rd this year. Now working on an ambulance is good as far as the team goes, but the adrenaline rush and emotional (for lack of a better word) bonding is not the same as you get when arresting folks and or taking their dope. The ambulance version is more mental challenging, especially cardiac cases and trauma. Most of the calls though are ho-hum routine stuff, even with Covid going on.

I have had a 45 year working career to me that is plenty for anyone. I do not anticipate missing anything about my job. Our company was bought by a Fortune 500 mega giant everyone on here would know. Just not the same some things better such as compensation but others not good at all there is just absolutely zero flexibility. Unless something unforseen happens the last day of my employment will be one of the happiest days of my life...cant’ wait.

I worked at my place of employment for 37 years and had a great career. Miss the people I worked with and I loved my job. I can honestly say I do not miss work at all. I was able to retire at age 57. I try to fish 3 to 5 times a week. Love the Texas hill country and fishing some of the off the beaten trails all across Texas. Texas is a beautiful State and I want to enjoy it during my years of retirement.

Retired for 3 years now. Don't miss anything about work except for a few friends. After 38 years, I was very tired of the corporate B.S. which was getting worse each year.
I was very tired of doing and receiving management semi and annual reviews. Only 10% could be above average/exceptional (or whatever the current rating system called it), 40% average/meeting expectations, 30% does not fully meet expectations/needs work, and 20% does not meet expectations/requires development plan. The bar just kept moving up.
New V.P.'s (and higher) were hired and knew nothing about the business. They would be there just long enough to screw things up and then move on. Those left behind had to clean-up the mess.
Even after 3 years I'll sometimes dream (more appropriately have a nightmare) of past problems and issues. They happen much less frequently now.
So, NO I don't miss it!

I have 5 more years then I’m done. I can tell you I won’t miss it one bit maybe a few friends, but I’m tired of all the political [censored] every week. Glad some of you guys are enjoying retirement won’t be long for me LOL!

Do any of you retired guys miss your jobs? What I mean miss the people and interactions with them.
I am 61 and have been working plant and pipeline since I was 20. with my present P/L job I have been moved out the busy area of Mentone/Pecos.
I work in Andrews which is a lot closer drive but a lot slower pace. dang I miss the pipeline construction guys, They are from all over the country and are hard working down to earth people.
I find myself watching you-tube videos of pipeline construction and Plant work and music that is associated with it. Anybody else?
Well about 5 out of two hundred the others if I saw them in Death Valley broke down with no water I’d keep driving. Well that’s what I would want to do but probably send help once I reached civilization or had phone signal. But I wouldn’t stop p on them.
I got all day I’m retired

Some coworkers I miss and others I hope to never see again. I enjoy not having a requirement to climb out of bed but I still get up at 0530.

My dad retired 2 years ago. We worked together for 15+ years. I miss seeing him everyday and I will go out on a limb and say he might miss me from time to time. Otherwise, he doesn't miss it at all and loves retirement. I know I will not miss anything about working if I'm fortunate enough to make it to retirement.

I am 61 and will be 62 in December. I am still employed, but we are having a reduction in workforce this week(oil & gas related) and I have a feeling my position will be effected after this one. This is my second career (14 years) after 31 years in the supermarket business. Both have been very good to me and I would like to work another 3 years and retire at 65 since I am very happy with my current position, but I will probably retire if I am laid off unless I get called back to work within 6-12 month.
