Do any of you retired guys miss your jobs? What I mean miss the people and interactions with them.

I am 61 and have been working plant and pipeline since I was 20. with my present P/L job I have been moved out the busy area of Mentone/Pecos.

I work in Andrews which is a lot closer drive but a lot slower pace. dang I miss the pipeline construction guys, They are from all over the country and are hard working down to earth people.

I find myself watching you-tube videos of pipeline construction and Plant work and music that is associated with it. Anybody else?

I transitioned from full time to part time consultant for a little over a year, so that helped. Miss the people more than the work; do not miss the office politics at all. Have stayed in touch with a few of them - they keep me up to speed on what's happening back there.

I was a teacher for 30 years and felt like it was hobby for which I was paid. Was starting to feel llike a job so took an early retirement package at age 55. I particularly miss the students' enthusiasm and intellectual level of my colleagues. My other hobby was home remodel and improvement projects which I took on as self-employment for the last 20 years until the covid thing causing me to retire again. Retirement at an early age would have been tough if I hadn't had alternative work to fall back on to stay occupied. Waiting for the mail and newspaper to arrive every day gets old.

I can’t get away from the yurd heads I work with fast enough and I’m 44. There are some days I wonder if I’m gonna make it. I know this doesn’t help you much, but I feel better so thank you.

Absolutely.

I was fortunate to have a job that I enjoyed and paid very well. I enjoyed the pilots with whom I worked, and I miss lunches with my fellow instructors.

I do not miss the drive into work, the irregular schedules, or putting up with carp from the FAA. I am very happy to be out of Dallas.

I vaguely miss them some. I realize though they are fellow employees and not friends.

I ain't watching youtube on healthcare, trauma, and med issues. Watched some fishing and gun youtubes though.

I want to say this though, My wife says I'm a different person ... very laid back now. I never realized the stress I carried around as baggage working in the environment I did. I liked what I did and I was pretty good at it but according to her it took a toll on me, her, and us !

Don't miss the jobs, nor the people. Shoot, after retiring we moved to a location where we had no family nor friends to start the next phase of our lives. Bought a bit of country and have been working it for the past few years. But having lived a military life for 20+ years, where you move every 4 years or so, cutting ties with coworkers and friends, it was a normal transition for us.

May you be treated the way you treat other people, today and everyday!

I’m not far from retiring, I’ve thought about this as I make the pro/con list in my head. There really isn’t much I will miss to be honest, and many things I simply cannot wait to get away from. There is a growing movement by many people to shift their work to others, to slack off, to work harder to not do work than just doing it to begin with. This work from home situation we are in now has only made it worse. I won’t miss corporate America, cost cutting, downsizing, the constant black cloud of job eliminations. I am so thankful I got into the pension plan and 401k plan 41 years ago.

After being a Custodial Supervisor in an elementary school I retired 3 years ago. I miss all of the hot moms and teachers. I was in a very wealthy school district where the most of the moms didn't work. They played tennis or golfed or sat around the pool all day. What they wore or the lack of was the highlight of my day and every day when they dropped off or picked up their little ones. As for everything else (sick kids) barf flush_2 and the politics from upper management, don't miss it!

We owned a small business so I worked with my wife every day. We had separate jobs supervising different groups so we never had a conflict there. Retiring and being at home is not much different. We always liked to travel so we've been knocking items off our bucket list for 13 years. Love it and don't miss work at all!

Life is precious. We don’t have forever. We have now. This moment. We can choose to love our lives now.

Certainly; if you work in a profession that you love and you have a chance to make a difference, then itsalwaysharx to step away. I left my full time career 12 years ago and have been condultinv since, but I miss the challenges and the reward of being in chargeof a major program. As a consultant, I am saddened by the incompetance of people who are in charge these days. I cant tell you how many institutions hire me to clean up messes made by people who have no business being managers. I put things in order, give them a plan, and two years later they call me back when its all screwed up again.

But times change, and there is no way I could work in the politically correct world of government today. so its all good

I retired from a pipeline company 12 years ago. And yes, I miss it every day. I miss the job, but especially the good people I worked with. I still get together with some of my co workers several times a year to fish a BS. I just don't miss the bad people and especially Houston.
