Skeeter, I don't think it's "rattling". It sounds more like it may be the surge protector.

There is no "surge protector" on a trailer - that's for your TV or computer power connection.....surge actuator.

What about if lightning strikes your trailer?

That's why you have Power Poles, aka lightening rods.

Randy, you need to have the trailer brakes bled. You have some air in the system. PM sent.

I have the same issue.
I've gotten to the point where I feel that there is not enough brake being applied.
I've had one brake actuator on my trailer that worked wonderfully and acted like a shock absorber between the truck and trailer applying the right amount of brake.
It broke eventually and I replaced it. Every since then I think someone is in the back of my truck hitting the cab or the tailgate with a sledge hammer every time I take off or stop.

If your receiver has an adapter that reduces the side of the drop down that carries the ball, it may be a loose fit. Mine is and it clunks on take off and stops. I keep telling myself to grind the paint off and weld the reducer adapter the the ball carrier.

+1, after replacing my actuator and bleeding i get absolutely no clunking. Disconnect the light harness and try backing up. If no resistance then actuator/brakes are not working properly.
