I have 21 ft triton with 225 mercury.
Someone put a 27 p tempest, i was told thats too much prop.
So I'm looking for advice or used (or trade) 25 p prop ( 4 blade)?

Thanks for the help in advance.

Monty

The tach is not working but hole shot seems week and also , seems weak when trying to go those extra 6 inches on the trailer.
WHen I had the engine checked the computer said it has about 10 hours since a rebuild and RPMS were never over 4900 so that was another clue prop is not right.

I 'm looking for someone to fix tach in DFW area if anyone has any recs.

Thanks

I run a 25p Trophy on my 99 TX21/225 Opti most of the year. I drop to a 24p Trophy in the hot months of July and August. Keeps me right at 5700 rpm WOT

You can buy a new tach for not a whole lot of money, most likely a 25” would work better for you; but you really need a working tach.

Also, check prop to pad height. Start at about 3.5" below pad and fine tune from there. I went from a 27 three blade to a 25 4 blade on my Champion 201, set the prop 3.5" and the hole short improved dramatically. Top end dropped 4-5 MPH. Still runs about 65 +/- with boat loaded and two guys on board.

27 sounds a little steep, but it's hard to say without knowing what RPMs you're turning... Get the tach fixed and borrow a known 25 and give it a try... Might also try calling around to a few long time Triton dealers and ask for advise... Dan
