If I had a yak it sure would be equipped with toons. I have seen people make their own with various sizes of capped PVC pipe.

I was considering the same but most of the home made ones I checked out looked too redneck for even my own questionable sometimes below standard go with the flow sensibilities. Also the fact that someone else paid for my toons sort of makes them my favorite setup for the price LOL!!!!!

Honestly..... They're

Inexpensive.
Light weight.
Easy to install.
Easy to adjust.
Easy to remove.
Perfectly designed to fit even in small car trunks
Set up to mount a Go Pro, a safety flag, Or even a stern light.
Great for adding or improving stability in a kayak or canoe.

And last of all..... They're worth the investment. Sometimes a store bought kit is safer to use than a mop handle and two gallon bleach jugs duct taped to a kayak. (Yes I know some home made setups are stronger, better, and less expensive than the one I used. With my medical issues, I rather enjoy safety products that were designed for a singular purpose. When I was younger and in much better shape I could have and probably would have cut corners and not been worried about how well made a project may be. But now that I'm 60 and don't heal as fast as I used to. Maybe I'll just leave safety products to the pros. That way I can spend more effort kayaking & fishing than building something that may or may not end up being safe or perform as well as I had hoped..
