Went down with dad for our annual Redfish surf trip Friday - Tuesday. We normally go late Sept early October but had to go earlier this year due to work.

The surf was pretty flat and very green. We yaked out 1000 -1500' with cut mullet and could only catch catfish and 2 very small shark. Seconds after hitting the water they were stripping bait. We had to anchored the first day but did not the second day. We bought large mullet which was good. There was alot of finger mullet in the first cut but the bigger mullet were a no show in a castable range. There was alot of something grouped up in the second cut. I caught some blue runners in the cast net which it was that or larger mullet. Tried a spoon in this area and caught a few small trout and lady fingers. Alot of jelly fish. One evening they were every 10' floating. Tired of getting bait stripped we went crabbing with much success. Using chicken legs and mullet heads we caught tons of blue crabs around marsh areas. 1 in 8 were keepers. The following day Laura was getting closer so no yaks, I used the drone to carry out some crab we caught. Still no red fish. Droned out some mullet and only caught a few catfish. Another guy was night droning lines out with buddies and from what I could tell, no one was really catching reds. Highly suspect they haven't moved up in concentration yet. I wanted to yak the jetties but Laura was to stressful with events so we just crabbed at jetties. Caught a few for the pot. They were Delicious

Compared to my last two trips that looks like perfect surf casting conditions.
