Back in the early it was a hot bass lake. I lived just outside Tyler and fished TB about once a month. Bought my first bass boat while there. A TideCraft Pro with a 70HP Johnson Stinger. Ugliest combo you ever saw. Bright yellow boat with a orange and black motor.

The fishing took a nose dive during the spring of 2016 when the lake had its worst flood ever. Water muddied up and killed what grass the spraying hadn't killed. And now the lake is just a shadow of what it was. We go every spring and the fishing has been tough the last few years. Still love the lake though. Caught an 11 in 2015.

I'll have to visit for a week and observe before I can provide an answer. Send address and leave a key under the front door mat.

I bet there are still plenty of fish in Toledo Bend. I used to fish it regularly in the 90's. We would buy straight tail purple worms by the pound at a place south of Shreveport.

It was nothing to catch 50 bass in a morning.

TB is not what it was 3 years ago.

I love the topography and type of forests around TB. Much more hardwood than Rayburn. I'm coming at this as an East Texas guy.

My issues with TB is the growing Salvinia problem, no hydrilla (used to be great keeping turbidity down), and the La. meat mentality.

I like the docks, land around, and underwater structure. It's also situated more north and south and typical wind patterns come from the NW and SE ... still gets rough, dangerously so, but not the wave action of Rayburn. TB has the potential with good management and good grass to easily be the best lake in the nation.

We made our first trip the week after that flood during spring break. We wore them out for a solid week, the whole trip was fun.

We were there when the flood hit. Killed them on a 3/4 ounce Talon spinnerbait.
