Labor Day is coming. School starts on Sept 01. I have to make a choice:
1) I go to Athens for the long weekend and fish for big sunfish. My wife won't be there because she is going to visit an old friend of hers in MS that is fighting cancer.
2) Stay here in Amarillo and go dove hunting.
3) Go to Lake Meredith and try to get into some sunfish and maybe some walleyes.
4) Hit the local catfish pond and get the makings of a fish fry.
The problem is, I want to do them all. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You can't go wrong with Athens! That would be my first choice. The second choice would be Lake Meredith. Like you say there is a chance of catching some Walleyes. As for dove hunting, I have not dove hunted in years.

Start the morning dove hunting then head over to Meredith for sunfish and walleye. Drive all night so you can start early at Athens, then drive all night home and get some catfish at the pond. That would be a normal long weekend.
