Was thinking I would pick up a Curado 76MH rod for 3/8 oz to 3/4 oz jigs. Have any of you used this rod? Thoughts?

The Shimano Expride 76MH looks to be another good choice for jigs. But I have never really liked split handles and even though this is probably a better rod than the Curado, the Curado comes with a full cork handle which is what I prefer.

Any other recommendations for 7'5 to 7'7 jig rods that would be great for 3/8 to 3/4 oz jigs will be appreciated.

A NRX 894 would be pretty cool so if you have a lightly used one lying around that you would sell for a good price let me know!

I have three Curado rods. A 7'5" MH split grip, 7'6" H, and a 7'2" MH

I'm not as experienced as many here, but I really like them. They are fairly light, well balanced, and well built. They are faster and stiffer than my Dobyns Sierras.

I use them for jigs and Texas rigs. They are plenty sensitive for my needs.

Thanks! I have looked at those Curado rods a few times in the tackle stores and always liked how they felt in the hand.

I actually just watched the tactical bassin video on the Curado series of rods and Matt Allen kept on talking about how he really liked the 76 moderate fast rod for jigs. He mixed it up with the 7'5 model but clarified he was talking about the 7'6 rod in the comments.

So anyway I decided to go ahead and get the 7'6 MH rod! Had to pick it up from an eBay retailer and pay $34 extra for shipping since TW does not have that rod in stock. Too bad since some of those models are on sale for $99 including the 76H and 77H flip models!

Fishing World in Dallas has them or can get them. I have two of them. You can get it in a 7ft6in length or 7ft4in length.

Thanks man. Appreciate it. I've never looked at those Kage rods. I'll see how I like the Curado 76MH and go from there. The only good thing about that $34 shipping deal was that it also included a free return slip! But hopefully I like that rod just fine and use it to get some good jig fish during the fall bite!

Dang. Seems like I ordered the wrong rod!!!!

Didn’t realize it but a local tackle shop had both the Curado 76MH and the Expride 76MH in stock. I ran over and looked at both rods.

Oh man. That expride 76MH felt amazing. Totally blew away that curado 76MH

And you know what?

They had a Loomis GLX 894 in stock. And the Expride actually felt better than the GLX.

The GLX 894 was on sale for 25% off which was very tempting. But I actually thought I would prefer to try the Expride. Would have bought it on the spot but the tip looked sort of funny. I am going to order one from TW ASAP.

The Curado M/H fishes almost like a Dobyn's Champ H to me. I can throw 6" swim baits on it just fine.

GregW, I know. The Curado is a very nice rod! I just wanted a really light 7'6 jig rod. I am fishing mostly open water right now, rocks and trees. No grass. It just felt like a cool rod and that it was right for the way I want to fish right now.

What sealed the deal for me was when I put a Curado 200K on the Loomis GLX 894. It's funny. I've been a Loomis man for like forever. I still use the same IMX rods from 20 years ago. Don't fix what ain't broke.

But the 200K was just a lot more comfortable and felt just right on the Expride and it didn't sit the same way or feel as good on the GLX 894 and I was really surprised at how much the reel sort of stuck out on the GLX and didn't fit into my hand as well. Not sure if Loomis changed their handles. I've fished the 200K on my other IMX Loomis rods and the reel feels great on those older rods.

Glad I asked the guy at the store to pull out a reel for me to do that because I was awfully tempted to go after that GLX 894 at 25% off!!! but the Expride just felt better.

Super light rod. We'll see how it works out with #12-20 fluoro and 3/8 to 3/4 oz jigs mostly.

I really like 7'3 or 7'4 for a jig rod. Expride is gonna be the lighter more sensitive of the two.
