Our local weather dude (whom I respect) said the Rita statement this AM. My wife, who follows him on FB, comes into the bedroom this morning all alarmed. I'm concerned but Rita had the 4th lowest pressure ever recorded in the Atlantic Hurricane Basin and the lowest ever in The Gulf. Even though the NWS says that Rita came ashore as a Cat 3 I'll say they are full of it !

Advice? Wise men don't need it. Fools won't heed it.

I was in costa rica when rita hit, didn't look like any cat 3 to me either, thing was huge and mean. had to wait an extra day in san jose before we could fly out.

This should help wood prices rolleyesWood prices doubled a couple months back and haven't come back down since.
I sure hope this makes the north turn like they are saying today.

This wood prices might start coming down after the first of the year... maybe. Big time lumber shortage right now in the middle of a building boom. The 3 biggest lumber companies in our region broke all time Q2 records. Friends in the New Orleans area told me last week their company is out of several 2x6 lengths and canโ€™t find them anywhere in the US. Prices will likely continue to go up as more material becomes scarce. This is just the beginning.

I want all the people on the coast to be spared destruction, but I sure would love for that sucker to spin itโ€™s way up to dfw and give us some soaking rains.
