Ah, so that explains why your livewell is always full I can't fish near that much, but mostly at RR or LL when I do. Moving a little further north next year or so, and might be on Texoma a little more often after that. Thanks for responding to my post. /Mark

A 12 footer is a useful tool! pair one with a bait caster for shallower fish, pair one with a spinning reel for deeper fish. it makes pitching jigs at a set depth really easy. you get used to long setup very quickly.
even with a good spot lock TM, you will need to adjust and fish different parts of structure. i wouldn't go anything less than a 10 unless i'm fishing exposed timber, or dock shooting!

All these live scope post are gonna make me go buy one! That's exactly what happened to me! ONE trip under my belt and ZERO buyers remorse. Well....except for needing a longer pole

I use 11โ Jenko rods my 8โ rods havenโt been on the deck since. These rods are light with fast tip an not all handle like most long rods. The long rods help place your jig in the perfect spot without spooking the fish really helps on rough water days to keep you in the zone .Boat control is very important I donโt have spot lock an probably never will just not versatile enough for my run an gun fishing style .Ck out the Kevin Rogers Jenko rods

It's looking like 11' might be the sweet spot. Looking at ACC and Jenko, raised another question, regarding the reel seat location. I haven't fished a rear seat rod, but it seems like an advantage to me, for crappie fishing.
BTW, thanks for all the replies so far. It's very helpful for me and I hope others viewing.

I use 10 and 12' ProAnglers. I prefer to use the 12 footer when LSing for all reasons cited above. I have the bimini top up most times in this heat. I have gotten use to fighting the longer length rods to where it is not a problem. It's just something you have to account for. BTW, the first bimini was a 6' footer that lasted 7 years. It made a heck of a difference in the heat. I stay out as long as I want now. I replaced it with an 8 footer and the difference is even that much better.

I have 10โ rods and 14โ rods....I have trouble with the 14โ doing single pole. I too will use the 10โ in shallower situations and then go to shorter 6โ-7โ rods when fishing brush piles that are deep.

I ended up picking a B n M 11 footer from Academy and using it one time now, think it's going to be what I use most of the time. Its pretty light and open water brush, trees, other than knarly stuff above water, will be what I'm using most of the time. With the LS, I'm appreciating the ability to stay on spot lock and drop in different spots around me, timber, etc.
