I just moved in my son at Baylor University this past week and we didn't realize how much fishing opportunity is in the area. We are looking for any info on the area and how to fish it, especially around the campus that he could possibly access with a kayak and catch a few fish. We are not looking for your secret spot just general info on where to go and where to stay away from, etc. Thanks in advance.

Although fishing is better on lake waco. You would be shocked how much a dump the river was 20-30 years ago, its been cleaned up a ton, fishing is still better on the lake though

Easy! Launch the 'yak and paddle up to the outdoor eating deck at Buzzard Billy's. Preferred baits are stale French fries and shrimp tails. Lots of trash on the bottom so I'd fish under a bobber about 3-5 feet with maybe a 1/4oz split shot. Paddle past the dock, cast and drift, rinse and repeat. Bring a pair of needle nose pliers because he'll likely catch a few turtles as well. Best of luck to him!
