Anyone use a gas generator power inverter to charge batteries via minn Kota onboard charger?

Years ago before onboard chargers where made. I was a co angler on Lewisville. Bobby Lane said he used a generator to keep his batteries charged prefishing miles of grass mats in Florida.

If you’re looking to charge batteries while trolling you’d need an Iota or Powermax converter to keep up. I used these when I used to bowfish using my trolling motor all night. The onboard chargers wouldn’t keep up...
That said we would run all night on the trollers wide open. I ended up swapping to a fan which works way better.
