If you are reeling in a Crappie, and a huge catfish, or LMB or any other game fish bites the crappie and gets hooked is the 2nd fish legal to keep? This used to happen all the time when fishing for channel perch in the St Lawrence, you would be reeling in a perch and either get half of the perch or you would catch a huge Northern Pike. This is where my brain starts to go after 4 days of work. Thanks

In other states, it's considered legal when recreational fishing. Not a legal catch if you're tournament fishing. Not sure I'd agree with it, but I get it.
Now in Texas, wooo boy the rules here are different, for the right reasons.

I think you are good in Texas keeping both if that is what you want. You just can't deliberately use a game fish as bait.

If you want to be technical, if you catch a gamefish with a gamefish, the 2nd gamefish must be released as it was caught unlawfully. Even if it is not intentional. Then again, that is the "technical" answer.
If both are legal size and my intent is to eat them, I would probably proceed.

call it what you will...he is not definitely not anywhere near the top of the list for QB's that I would choose needing a FG or touchdown drive late in the game.
