I have a 17.5 Ft Alumacraft, I try to take my daughter out when I fish, she reads mostly but at some point she likes to swim. I always used the tail fin of the motor all my life to get back into the boat. Now I'm getting older and fatter. This weekend I tried swimming with her and slipped when I was getting up on the deck and really hurt my kneecap. I am trying to find something that will fit in a small space and still support my 250+ lbs when I try to get out. I have looked on Amazon, but find it hard to tell if they will really fit on my boat or hold me up. Any advise is appreciated.

I have a ladder from Academy called "dotline boat ladder" it fits perfect over my gunnel rail. it has two cleats that fold out to press against the hull of the boat so the ladder does not slide under the boat as you try and get up. I am 260 and it hold me just fine.

They also make a rope ladder that attaches to a cleat.
