Guys fixing to build me a boat garage what size ?
I currently own a boat that with tongue folded is about 24 ft . So I was thinking:36 ft long and 18 wide or 20.
Reason is I have 24 by 26 awning to put truck under and boy’s vehicle under and still have 2 car garage attached to house. Two twelve ft doors 8 ft high guess 10 ft walls windows on each side door on front and twelve ft door.
Twelve ft door on back no windows on back .
This is not gonna be a metal building .
Just want enough room on one side for boat to go in drop and leave pull down door and have plenty of room.
The rest will be used for fishing stuff and other stuff.
How much y’all think it will cost?

If you are going with a sticks and bricks contractor to do this project you can bet $100 - $125/sq. ft. as a starting point minimum. That may have gone up since I had some estimates done because building materials have gone through the roof since the pandemic started.

I built my own 20x30 metal shop and spent $10,000 on everything, the only thing I hired out was the 16'x8' overhead door.

Did you pour a concrete pad? That's CHEAP either way boss!

Yes I did, it took exactly 13 yards of concrete, two cases of beer and the help of two good buddies.

Bass caster, I’m doing the same now. Send me a message on here and we can talk. I have an itemized quote from someone we can discuss.

If you have power poles or talons, you might consider taking the door up to 10' from 8.

Honestly, build is as big as you can afford to, because it will never be as cheap as it is today and you'll always want more room!
I would recommend at least a 12'w x 10't (if not 12't) garage door.
From my experience in building stuff, keep the dimensions divisible by 4'. As that maximizes your space and minimizes your waste material.

I just priced a 20 x 25 for mine enclosed with roll up doors on it and it was in the $7500.00 range.

The concrete would be that much or more so I am going with the Earth friendly "Natural Earth" pattern floor. cheers

The man from Katy has some good advice. Suggest you measure motor height, Power Poles, etc before selecting your garage door and ceiling height. Bought a house with a 24x24 detached garage for the boat. Former owner had put in 8 foot garage doors in the front and rear walls to be able to pass through to a concrete pad out back. Just to be safe, I pull my Transom Saver and trim down to clear the doors/automatic garage door opener to get in or out. Not a huge deal ( I'm happy to have it inside out of the weather ) but if you include it in your planning think you will be happier with the outcome.

Yes all good ides especially divide by 4. My brother is in home construction and will be building and drying in putting siding on. Roofing , sheet rock, tape bedding and concrete will be done by others. Two garage doors proably 10 ft high 12 wide one each end one walk in door house end. Windows my son in law will supply windows good news free. 12 foot walls my power pole is just under 7 foot so should be good.
36 ft long would be more than long enough boat folded tongue is just around 24 foot
So I can back in drop trailer leave tongue out and still have plenty room. Both garage doors are going line up closer on one side that way I will have room for tool air compressor and lots of fishing tackle on walls. Also awning on both ends not long but enough to shade doors . Should be nice I’ll give y’all a quote when I get it together.
Brother agrees divide by 4 thanks guys

I just put a bid in on a house that had the perfect shop!

It was 30 X 33 with two 10 X 14 (maybe even 20 high) doors. Also had an extended10 foot covered section out back for storing yard equipment.

Unfortunately I didn't get the house.
