It’s the prop not the trolling motor that cuts through weeds.

It’s the prop not the trolling motor that cuts through weeds. True. But a spot lock troller is really awesome at slowly wrapping itself do death with grass. Haha. Best ever for grass is a 36v Fortrex with a weedless wedge 2 and a ninja blade attached.

I understand about the prop. Just wondering which new spot lock trolling motor with the prop that comes with them performs best in heavy vegetation? Really interested in the new lowrance ghost performance.

I’d think they would all work the same. Unless you raise them up so the prop is breaking the surface of the water it’s high to clog up.
I carry a small 2x4 and put that under my ultrex to get that height. Works great.

I've never seen a more powerful TM than the Force I have on my boat. I've heard the Ghost is similar but I haven't seen it myself. I can tell you the Force plows through THICK hydrilla like nothing I have ever seen.

Don't have to worry about it in Texas, if there is grass and the State catches wind of it, it will get sprayed and carped to death
See you on the lake and have a great day!

I carry a small 2x4 and put that under my ultrex to get that height. Works great. I carry a marker bouy up front near the Ultrex for that very purpose. But I use it for super shallow water situations. In Lake Travis, there's very little grass to speak of, especially in my part of the lake. Rocks and sand, primarily Ditto on the Texas spraying/carp comment above. Lake Austin was a magnificent fishery before the Asian grass carp invasion destroyed all the vegetation and consequently, the lake itself.

99% of the time, I have my TM on a very low speed. If any TM runs into a bunch of hydrilla at a low speed, it is going to clog up around the propeller. I have a Machete TM blade on my Motorguide. It will cut through most all vegetation but you have to crank up the power.
