My mother and stepfather just purchased a waterfront home on Eagle Mountain Lake. I've been to the lake before about a decade ago now, but never fished it. Was wanting to know if there were any regulars on here that fish this lake often, and if so, what are your thoughts on the bass fishing at this lake? Move in date isn't until Sept 1st, so it looks like I'll be doing a lot of Fall fishing!

I have a little run I make after work in the evenings on the east side of the lake. Mainly two banks. Always put at least a couple in the boat. Haven't been since my trailer is down but the last time was in late June. I lost a toad on rip rap pulling a 3/8 oz white swim jig. Still mad.

I fish Eagle Mountain for a couple of hours at least a couple of times every week. About to go out in a few minutes. We always manage to catch at least a couple of black bass. There are good catfish and white bass in the lake. It's better fishing than I thought when I started fishing EM in April. Summer fishing is a little harder it seems. You might book a guide for some advice on your favorite species. There are several good ones.

I'm still learning the lake. Best wishes.

I lived out there for a few years and fished the lake quite a bit...was always a tough one for me to figure out. Never seemed like the fish were staying in the same place for long. But if you fish enough docks you're almost guaranteed to catch a few. The marinas also hold fish fairly well...but to me it was more of a white bass lake. I honestly believe the whites out compete other species for the shad population out there. I know some of the locals that can find the big largemouths out there have brush piles, so if you can locate those you might find a honey hole. Good luck!

I have the most success around the rocks next to Twin Points. I live close, only go there if I'm going to fish early then meet my wife at the marina for her to jump aboard for a picnic.

Thanks for the advice. Do you do most of your fishing on the South part of the lake?

Yes, I launch at the South Wise County Park on the North end of the lake because it is free and close to me, no crowds. The water is very shallow up there, be careful and make sure you find the end of the ramp before you back down. I hit a couple points on the East side and a few docks on the West side before I head to the rocks South. That lake is not in my top 5 lakes to bass fish within an hour of my house and it is the closest.

Eagle Mountain is really good for white bass and catfish. I have caught some decent black bass, but it is tough going and far between. I'm still learning the lake, but there doesn't seem to be a lot of structure for the fish. There seems to be lots of fishing and boating pressure. We live on the southwest side but often fish on the southeast side to get out of the wind.

This is my first year to fish EM even though I have lived here 13 years. I hear the Spring fishing is much better. I started fishing at the end of this Spring. I'm looking forward to seeing what the fishing is like next Spring.

I am going to learn how to catch white bass and catfish since the lake is best for them and we live here. I'll keep fishing for black bass for fun.

Best wishes. Hope to see and meet you out there. The more time I spend on EM the more I like and appreciate it.
