Every once in a while I'm really pleased with how one of these comes out. I was trying to think how to demonstrate this concept and I think I got it right, hope you guys enjoy it!

yes it can come out through the gills, BUT the better move if it is in the tongue or even the stomach is to use side cutters and cut the hook point part off.

The hook point doesn’t always come through and show itself when deep hooked, most times you just see hook shank and eye. In this scenario, you can take your long needle nose and go through the gill plate, rotate the hook upside down and it pops free! Plenty of YouTube videos on it. No need to cut line and leave hooks in fish if you know what you’re doing. Kens way is also useful when hook point is visible.
