Texas by far has the most wind farms in the US. But wind turbines increasing have become part of the landscape of the Lone Star State โ so much so that Texas leads the nation, by far, in electricity generated by wind. A ChooseEnergy.comยฎ analysis of the latest data from the U.S. Energy Information Administration shows just how much the state dominates. Texas produced nearly 30 percent of the nationโs electricity generated by wind in May. Thatโs well more than triple the amount from the next state, Iowa. Following are the top states for the month, measured in thousand megawatt hours: State May generation % of U.S. total Texas 8,398 29.8 Iowa 2,516 8.9 Oklahoma 2,318 8.2 Kansas 1,945 6.9

Learn to fish the wind. Way better fishing with it than without it.

Learn to fish the wind. Way better fishing with it than without it. I know how to do it ... fished many tournament where it was a necessity. I just don't "like" it. The older I get the less I like to fight with it and prefer a little smoother conditions. Topwater bites on a calm surface are always fun to see.

NE TX ain't windy. Go out to Alan Henry and let me know what you think. Thirty MPH is a very common thing for them. 40-50 is not uncommon especially in late spring. The wind causes dust storms out there that make the sky red from the WTX sand.

I'm from Washington state and the wind is pretty mild in the summer for fresh water fishing and the lakes are very small compared to what Texas offers . I thought I would just bite the bullet and learn to fish in the wind LOL . Much more than 10 mph wind makes some big [censored] waves , I had to learn which lakes and which ramps were safe for launching in the wind . Nothing like a few big waves over the bow to make you want a bigger bilge pump .

I lived in Kansas for 9 years. Wind here pales in comparison.

I have a question about fishing in the wind. I have only had my boat for a year and its the first time boat I have had since the 80's.
I have a Champion 201, mostly crappie fish and usually out in deeper water this time of year, so I'm out in the open areas of the lake. In three of the last five times out, I had water coming over the bow of my boat while spot locked on submerged timber.
Do you guys that fish high wind have this same issue? How do you deal with it?
