Actually this is less about the actual rub rail than about the joint where the deck meets the hull. I have a 2003 Skeeter SL210 (Fish & Ski). After 7 years I finally managed to break the rub rail on the bow while loading the trailer. After unscrewing the rail back a little bit I discovered I had a gap between the fiberglass on the deck and hull. . Is this normal, if so how much is normal? I started to unscrew the rub rail farther down to check, but I think I am causing a gap when there isn't one. When I go fix this I need to know how tight to make this. Do I close the gap or leave a little, and make sure the rub rail is sealed fully?

Pic of the damage.

This next pick is the starboard side and looks to be too much of a gap. For some reason this pic is upside down, but you get the idea.

In this picture of the port side the gap is not as wide. Actually, on second look it is probably just as wide once I account for the old sealant.

In this pic you can see Skeeter has a screw going to the deck to the hull underneath the rub rail, and another going thru the rub rail to deck to hull.

You have bigger issues than the rub rail , Do you have insurance ?
I am no expert , but looks to me like there is a lot of fiberglass damage , I would take it to a fiberglass repair shop for an estimate.
Then you have to decide if you want to spend that much money on a 17 year old boat.

good luck

Looks like you been in a crash up derby.. That's gonna have to be "looked at" very difficult to guesstimate the damage there. We're in Mansfield if you happen to be in the area, we could have a look.

If it was my boat. I would put some silicone on it and screw it back together. No big deal.
