When I was in the AF, all of our tool sets were supplied by Snap-On specifically because of their lifetime replacement policy. Our battery terminals were standardized for 1/2" terminals, and I cannot tell you how many 1/2" wrenches we sent back with melted down box ends. Happened on a weekly basis at least.
Rings were a big no-no, and that is specifically why. Seriously you are lucky your right hand wasn't touching that plate. You could have grounded yourself and your left hand would have clinched closed and you would not have been physically able to let go. The ring would have fried your finger off.

Outstanding artwork in the description pics too!  Thanks Steve.  An artists rendering of the wrench. Art is not my thang.  They really buffed the ring up nice too. He said he had to dig out the aluminum that melted into the gold where the treadplate hit it, and then reflow gold solder back in.

I worked on a boat battery once standing in the water. I will never do that again. I had a golf cart battery explode once. Scary experience. Always disconnect the negative first and use a wrench that can't contact both terminals.

Yeah, the AF was serious about safety on the flight line. Both of the Aircraft I worked on had big twist on battery connectors that had to be safety wired in place. Never had any DC incidents thankfully in the AF, but I got bit several times with 115 3 phase 400 hz. from the generators while shaking down wire bundles. Ouchee. It is a much different shock than 60 cycle stuff.

Be thankful you weren’t wearing other rings in other places. No piercings on this guy. Can't imagine why some folks pierce some appendages! You must get to see some of that stuff in the medical field?

Yes, but I learned how to make a soldering iron from a wedding ring, a wrench and a battery. So there is that. If I am ever stranded and need to solder something.

I bought some of the blue dip it stuff , last week for my fishing pliers. My next application will be my ratchet handles, and my new rule will be ratchet and socket only for battery terminals. MO
