All,

I have 3 scales certified by IGFA. However, IGFA will not certify scales with capacity greater than 100 lbs. I have a scale that I use for alligator gar and wish to have it certified.

Does anyone have a source for scale certification for scales that exceed 100 lbs?

Btw, I tried following the links on the TPWD website for scale certification and it takes me to a bunch of businesses that do not certify scales, at least I couldn't find any. Here is what they say: "* The Texas Department of Agriculture does not certify scales. For a list of companies that are licensed to certify scales, visit the TDA website. Select the "Reports & Publications" tab, type "Weights" into the program search box in the right column, and look for the downloadable List of Licensed Service Companies." The link to the TDA website is: https://www.texasagriculture.gov/. If any of you can find a vendor from this website, you're smarter than I am.

There was a place in Forney that did scale certification. I used the twice a few years ago, I don't remember the name of the place. I too would be interested in getting my scales re-certified if anyone has any suggestions as to where.

I am one of the public weigh stations for Texas Parks & Wildlife. Scales have to be certified/calibrated once a year. I do not know the area you live but I have used a state, certified scale company in San Antonio for years. The name of the company is P&S Scale Company. Great company. I also bought my scale from them. There are a lot of scale companies that can calibrate scales. Google the ones in your area. thumb

Thanks for the input. I just found one in the Temple area that is certified by TxDeptAg and can certify my 200 kg hanging scale! They can do scales as small as 1 kg capacity, apparently. The company is called Central Texas Scale.

For the metroplex folks, I got the name of the place in Forney. I talked to them today and they do small scales certification as well as large.
