I hadn't taken my boat to Ray Hubbard since 2014, so I hooked up with Todd and Pat for a morning of fishing there. We started about 6:45 AM and fished to about 12:15 PM. The early morning bite has been on top-water action, and we found some of that at Robertson Point and the Jetty. My trolling motor failed to work, so we had to try and stay on them with the big motor going upwind and drifting through. We managed to catch 16 legal whites, a few dinks and one hybrid before the surface action ended.

After that, we started checking structures going down the west side managing only a crappie, then across to the east side and back up the lake. We finally found some fish on a point in 23 fow and sat there and caught 36 more sandies many going 12 to 14 inches. That finally slowed, and we started checking other structures but didn't find any more. We caught the fish on tail-spinners and #2 and #4 Mepps. Here are some pics:

Very nice Dennis, looks like it was a great trip. I didn’t catch any fish today at work. frown

I forgot to mention that Todd substituted for my trolling motor - putting in and pulling out my anchor numerous times as we set up on structures. The bicep and lat exercises were free of charge. flehan

I know well just how to do those, here I just finished a plumbing job and all I thought of was that 1 fish Friday hitting my whopper plopper missed it 1st and came back a 2nd time, neighbor here talking to me and I did not pay any attention to them just that fish! and hoping the hooks held and did not bend. All was ok and not 1 drop of a leak afterwards. Disposal and all under sink redone.

way to go guys. some of the best trips are when things go wrong and you can salvage some good catches. Maybe use Todd's Bluewave, his is new and fancy!

One 10-pounder is better than ten 1-pounders; but 100 1-pounders is ok too!

Haha Tim. Pat and I offered to take our boats but DC preferred the good ole manual anchor and that requires skills in positioning the boat over fish on windy day. DC got many mad skillz for sure!
