did your parents give you list of the words you were supposed to avoid? Or did you have to say them to find out what they were...

found out from my dad and his buddies that used them. Then got slapped slapped then some lifebouy soap, once or a dozen times. dam oilfield trash I hung around with in my pre teens.

I was like Ralphie in “Christmas Story” when he dropped the lug nuts- I had heard lots of bad words from my dad and my angelic mom did not even say “DARN” as she considered that cursing! So I was lucky not to get “SOAP POISONING” like Ralphie lol!

My dad would say "you better not repeat that where your mom can hear it". I did get a list of kids I needed to avoid.
