I rebuilt the carbs, ran wire thru all the jets and replaced all the parts gaskets etc that come with the kits. Did I need to adjust the Floats (New) since it will not idle and dies quickly. Rebuild Kit wasn't OEM and used rubber buytl dark orange gaskets.
Is there a traveling Mechanic familiar with Johnson's in North garland, Wylie Sachse Area?

Denny there are some great videos on youtube that show how to adjust the floats on those carbs. I have a 1996 Johnson faststrike 150. I tried fixing mine several years back but decided to just go to a good mechanic. I use a guy in Lufkin and he's awesome. I fought bogging issues and VRO issues. I got rid of the VRO and run the twin fuel pump system and mix the oil in my gas. I also run non ethanol fuel. This really helped the Heat soak issues too.

Ok, I have all the Carbs rebuilt, third time was the key here... now I need to increase the Low Speed Idle, and by looking at the Johnson Manual it's not just increasing the nut(s) it involves timing advancement syncing etc. Is there a mechanic or shop around lavon or hubbard that can do this without a month's backlog? A traveling guy or ?

A young fellow in Royse City I believe name Matt. Someone else will hopefully chime in with Matts info. He worked on my 150 Johnson several years ago and he has responded on this forum recently I believe. He did a good job for me.

I learned 2 clys are gone, 1 with a hole you can stick your thumb in.
I may just replace it and scrap the engine all this after getting the carbs rebuilt perfect. Figures.

He was my first call, and if i decide to fix it will be where i take it. it's hard to put 3500 in a motor this old, but then even harder to justify a new one at 11,000 in a 94 Ranger this old.
