Been looking to take the kids to some local ponds to fish preferably for bass and crappie. I live in Midlothian, and am willing to travel up to 30 minutes in any direction. Does anybody know of any good local ponds around the Midlothian area? I've fished Wooten's Lake (it's a pond) several times, but that place is a dud. We currently don't have a boat, so trying to avoid the lakes if at all possible. I grew up in Duncanville, so thought about going to Lake Side Park. I've heard there's not really any bass in there, just mostly catfish. Texas.Gov website shows they haven't stocked any bass in there since 2000. Anybody know of any spots we could go to? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Try the pond in Red Oak. Right off of red oak road and 35. I’ve heard it has been stocked by a few guys keeping their overs from Joe Pool. It has a playground at it too, so if the kids get bored, dad can still fish.

Try Clark Lake, West of Ennis. It's not much more than a large pond. good places to fish near the only parking lot.

There is a pond across the highway from Clark in Bluebonnet Park, that I saw a guy pull a 3# bass out of. Playground nearby.

I'm glad there are wine drinkers in this world ..... it saves more beer for the rest of us.
