New York Attorney General Letitia James announced Thursday that her office has filed a lawsuit against the National Rifle Association and its leadership, including Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre, looking to dissolve the organization.

James accused the organization of having "a culture of self-dealing," taking millions of dollars for personal use and granting contracts that benefited leaders' family and associates.

"The NRA's influence has been so powerful that the organization went unchecked for decades while top executives funneled millions into their own pockets," James said in a statement. "The NRA is fraught with fraud and abuse, which is why, today, we seek to dissolve the NRA, because no organization is above the law."

If they would take the same actions against every other PAC and lobby group, then I would be in full agreement.

My interests happen to align with those of the NRA, but the reality is that lobby groups are probably the biggest contributors to the corruption of the swamp.

There has been talk of this for a while. I know a director that very recently resigned his position on the board because of the financial shadiness he supposedly saw. This dude was ride or die, too. I think there is probably something to these claims.

I am not a member. While I agree with some things they do there is a larger part that I do not agree with.
The stories about the funneling of monies to Executives and families have been rampant for years.
This lawsuit has interesting potential if it moves forward. What's to keep a conservative State AG, or group of conservative AGs, to go after liberal groups like BLM, Greenpeace, etc.

It is indeed sad the top guys in the NRA turned it into a very lucrative piggy bank. I often wonder how it is always groups on the right side of the political spectrum that get investigated by NY prosecutors and never those on the left side. I can think of one that is just a slush fund that continues to flourish. I say go ahead and prosecute those that broke laws and let the membership of the NRA decide the future of the oldest civil rights group in the US. Further, why would any company do business in NY and open themselves to this?

No different than the Clinton’s, Biden’s, Pelosi’s, Bush’s. Every member of all these families are nothing more than crooks who got filthy rich off the backs of all Americans.

Give anything/anyone enough time and money and things get screwy.

BLM is not an organization. Any group like the NRA or Greenpeace can always be investigated at any time. The NRA allegedly broke laws and rules, just as the Trump Foundation did and was shut down.

They have drifted a long way from their origins. Will be an interesting case to watch.

May you be treated the way you treat other people, today and everyday!

Yep - as I was reading the allegations seems like you could insert/replace with DNC and be right on.

I support their cause, but I don't send them money.
